What are we asking for?

Industry involvement

We can have good intentions to contribute to training for the industry, but because of work commitments and the lack of personal time, it is hard to find the time get involved with students. Especially on a regular basis.

So what we are asking is, a small one off contribution of your, or a staff members time, to help us run a web intensive week at the Whitireia Community Polytechnic Faculty of Arts and Communication. Planned for the week of 20th June to the 4th July.

This web intensive week is a way that you could help encourage students to explore the web path. It is also a chance to build the students respect for your particular area of expertise.

I would urge you to consider making a short presentation to the students, a summary of what is involved in your area of expertise or the other option would be to run a workshop with a practical exercise.

Our students respond well to both approaches but the practical method also gives them experience in performing a task in an interview situation.

We are particularly looking for people to represent the following areas, but if your skill is more specific or you feel you can offer something, please contact Lian Hathaway or Barbara Harford.

If you can help or know of anyone who may be interested, contact Lian Hathaway or Barbara Harford.
